“Levi and I didn’t have a big budget to work with for the wedding as I was studying full time this past year, but even with a smaller wedding budget we still wanted it to look high end. I like to call it “Budget Bougie”! I knew that I wanted the style of the wedding to be “modern boho” and for the colour palette to include ivory and blush neutrals with pops of burgundy and rose gold. There were three things we wouldn’t budge on for quality and style and that was food, music and photography. We got lucky with it all and scored great bargains and amazing people to work with. We also wanted the wedding to reflect us. We’re not fancy people. We’re just a young, taco and Japanese car loving couple; so a taco truck and cool cars were a must! We were lucky that my aunty is a wedding planner and stylist, so we got all of the insider tips and tricks and styling very generously gifted to us. We scored big time with our venue, Ten 22, as they totally allowed us to let this unique vision of ours come to life! We saved lots of money by DIY-ing so many things. We made all the wedding stationery (hours and hours spent watercolour painting and metallic foiling… Never again!) and small signage ourselves and I even found my dress second hand for a crazy bargain! It really was a pleasure working with Nat and Dave from Ten 22 this past year. We look forward to seeing what 2019 brings for Ten 22!
Love, Alia and Levi. “
